Spongebob Squarepants – Favors

Does the theme song to Spongebob pop into your head every time you hear his name? Because it does in mine. Perhaps that’s because Spongebob plays non-stop around these parts. It’s safe to say that my son is his number one fan. I mentioned awhile back about making him a Spongebob cake for his birthday, and since then he’s been talking about it non-stop. “Momma, you make-a-me my Pongebob cake?” His birthday isn’t until the end of June and he’s been saying it for about 3 months now. That kid and his memory….if only mine was still in tact like that.
I made these cookies for Chase and Bernie’s wedding, so they could hand them out as favors to the little ring bearers. Since Caden was a ring bearer, he got them and loved them. He also got this killer shirt that says “Ring Security”. It is darling.

Hello Kitty Cookies – Favors

Our dear friends Chase and Bernie got married this past weekend. On one of our dinner/lunch dates prior to the wedding Bernie had asked if I had any ideas for favors that she could give her little flower girls. Of course any idea I have is baking related, so I suggest cookies! Her little niece Evalyn is going thru a “Hello Kitty” infatuation phase and Bernie thought she’d love Hello Kitty on her cookies.
They turned out A-DOR-ABLE!

Cookies for a Cocktail Party

I met Bernie for the first time…gosh, I think it was on my wedding day, almost 3 years ago. Surely we met earlier, but now that I think about it maybe not! She is dating one of Colt’s BFF’s from high school and they are about to get MARRIED! In twenty two days to be exact.
Chase and Bernie live about 40 minutes away and we don’t get together nearly enough. Lately though, it seems we’ve seen them a lot more and I’ve been able to spend some more time with Bernie. She is such a darling person and I’m so excited for her and Chase!
This weekend was her bridal shower and I wasn’t able to attend, so I sent cookies. Actually, I didn’t think I was even invited, and she swears my invite got “lost-in-the-mail.”
Which I’m sure it did. Her and Chase have been sending everything to our old address. Even though Colt is IN their wedding we started thinking maybe we weren’t invited! Lol. I kid, I kid.
Anywho…back to the bridal shower. The theme was a cocktail party and I had recently purchased this a-dorable martini glass cookie cutter. I did half cosmos and half martini’s with olives. I found my inspiration over HERE at “The Decorated Cookie.” Which by-the-way, is a-freakin-dorable. The next time I’m at a bookstore I am buying her book. It’s seriously genius.

Life is Like a Box of Chocolates
I am sitting here wallowing in my lonliness while my husband lives it up in Vegas, so I baked. Baking always makes me happy.
I’ve been wanting to try something different with my cake balls and had seen a DARLING chocolate box made out of cake and cake balls and thought I’d take a stab at it. I wish I could remember what site I saw it on to give them credit…but alas, my memory fails me. So- to the site I saw this darling idea on, THANK YOU!
I think it might have been BAKERELLA…or CAKE JOURNAL…hmmmm…really, idk. My husband gets on me all the time about my terrible memory, which is why I love blogging so much because it’s record keeping for my memories. Anyways…waaaay off track.
Since I was making these while missing the hubster, I chose a lovey dovey background setting. These would make a super cute Valentine or Anniversary gifts.
Cake: Red Velvet
Icing: Half cream cheese/half buttercream
Covering: Semi-sweet chocolate with white chocolate drizzle

Sugar Sweet Bouquet
My husband’s grandma made up this amazing recipe book that I was deemed worthy of having when I married into the family.
Her recipe book is my first stop when testing things out because they usually turn out a-maz-ing. So, I turned to her when finding a carrot cake recipe for an upcoming wedding cake tasting!
The cake turned out oh-so-flippin-good- a little dense- but super flavorful. Since I knew we wouldn’t eat the whole cake, I turned the rest into cake-pops to test out my new dipping techniques to get a smoother finish. The hubster ended up taking most of them to work and said they got rave reviews. My son and I munched the rest. We’re sharing buddies. I feel better about eating a ton of sweets when I split them with him.
