Motorcycle Road Trip – Groom’s Cake – Salinas, CA
Bekki used to work with my BFF at the Monterey Coast Brewing Company (you should go there, and eat their food. It’s quite scrumptious). She wanted to surprise her husband with a Groom’s cake at their wedding, and since they are hardcore motorcycle lovers, and tentatively headed to Sturgis for their honeymoon, the cake them was motorcycle road trip.
My assistant (aka my sister, my little worker bee for the week) looked up the information for the road trip info (mileage is approx), made the little ducks out of gum paste and cut out all of the road signs. She also made the trees that went around the cake. The motorcycle is made out of gumpaste and set ontop of a fondant road. The shoulder of the road is represented by brown sugar and then the green grass was piped all along the sides of the cake and cake board.
The cake flavor was marble with carmel buttercream filling.
Bekki also ordered a dozen cookies for her son…but those are so cute I want to dedicate a entirely separate post for them. I know you are dying of anticipation.
Congratulations!!!

Baby Feet – Baby Shower Cake – Soledad, CA
My adorable delivery girl Alexis had her baby shower last weekend. She is due with her little boy the beginning of September, although my bets are on her delivering early.
Her shower was set up beautifully and her dessert table made a sweet addition to her baby shower decor!
Flavors for her shower included a marble cake with chocolate buttercream, vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream topped with white sugar beads and red velvet/cream cheese cake balls dipped in dark chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate.
Congratulations Alexis on your little one.
He’s going to be such a handsome little baby! I can’t wait to meet him.

Monkey is One – Birthday Cupcakes – Marina, CA
This little mini cake and cupcakes has a special place in my heart. Kim was my very very very very first client. I had posted an ad on craigslist, I had zero pictures of my work, and was hungry for a job. She contacted me to make her a wedding cake since her and her husband were eloping. I was thrilled beyond belief when she stumbled across my site again and asked me to make cupcakes and a mini cake for her son’s first birthday party.
My favorite part of the cake was the monkey topper. He’s just so squeezeable. I want to keep him as a pet!
Happy First Birthday Ethan!!!

Spongebob Dessert Table – Birthday Cake/Cupcakes – Soledad, CA
I put together a miniature dessert table for my darling little Caden’s third birthday party. He’s been obsessing over his Spongebob cake for months now! I was going to cop-out and do all cupcakes with Spongebob toppers, but my husband told me that Caden would be devestated- so I threw together a little Spongebob cake just for him.
The table was based off of Caden’s favorites. He loves strawberries so I did strawberry buttercream icing. The marshmallows are dipped in chocolate and covered in fish sprinkles because he loves his fish and fishing pole. And of course, the Spongebob cake and Cupcake toppers are the main characters of his favorite show.
He loved it.
And still asks to eat his “ponge-bob” cake.
Happy Birthday Caden!
Cake: Chocolate
Icing: Strawberry Buttercream

Stack of Books – PhD in Lit – Graduation Cake – Salinas, CA

Patty contacted me about making something special for her husband, who was graduating with his PhD in Literature from the University of California- Santa Cruz. She knew that she wanted a banana slug (the UCSC mascot) with a grad cap, and liked the idea of a stack of books. When I asked her what else he liked to try to make it as personal towards him as possible, she said that he liked wine and that they travel around every weekend for their daughters softball games so they don’t really have time for much else!
Everything on is Literature based on the cake. For the base, I copied out from pages of the Great Gatsby, a literary classic. The bottom book has the beginning title of Dr. Leal’s dissertation, (I couldn’t fit the whole thing
), and I found a book about Softball that I felt was appropriate since they support their daughter. The banana slug is reading Sideways (which was made into a movie) about traveling thru California wine country.
Congratulations Dr. Leal!
Cake: Bottom Book- Marble, Top Book- Red Velvet
Icing: Strawberry Buttercream and Cream Cheese Icing
Covering: Fondant with fondant and gumpaste embellishments and edible gold luster dust
