2010 Palma High School Graduation – Topsy Turvy Cake

Norma wanted a special cake for the graduation party they were having for her son. I love it when I talk to mom’s and you can tell how much love and pride they have in their children because it just oozes out of them. I could just tell how much Josh meant to Norma and how special she wanted this to be for him.
I am IN LOVE with how this cake turned out.
I love the topsy turvy whimsical-ness of it.
I love the bright colors.
I love the wording.
I love the personalized details.
It was such a fun cake to make. I feel like I get to know the person it’s for on a more personal level when the cake includes personalized items.
And I really like it.
It’s a really neat feeling to know that when Josh saw his cake, he was going to have a connection and memory to every single item. It’s as if you’re getting close to someone you’ve never met thru your artistry and it makes me want to make it that much more spectacular.
Congratulations Josh!

Pink Poodle Birthday Party!
Sarah contacted me a month or so ago about making cupcakes for her daughters 5th pink poodle themed birthday party. We nailed down a design and I started to work on these a-dorable pink poodle cupcake toppers. Each poodle is hand cut with an exacto knife out of foam and then covered in glitter.
When I walked in the house to bring the cupcake stand inside her littlest one said, “You are so beautiful!” Thank you little angel for making my day! The girls helped me set up and the birthday girl Sofie handed me the toppers to put on the cupcakes. Every time she handed me one I said, “Thank you ma’am.” After a couple of times she said, “Can you please stop calling me that? I don’t like to be called MAN.” Her mom started laughing and explained to her that I wasn’t calling her MAN but I was saying Ma’am. Sarah had picked out darling decorations and the food looked SCRUMPTIOUS. It’s fun to see how parties come together!
Thank you Sarah for letting me be a part of Sofie’s special day!
Happy BIRTHDAY SOFIE!

It’s a Boy! Baby Shower Cake
I have only had two amazing hair stylists in my life. One was in Nashville and short lived because I got transferred to Texas for work. And then I found Albert. He makes me look and feel like a million dollars. My self esteem literally peaks at level highs when I leave his salon. A few weeks ago when I got my hair done I was jabbering on and on about my business and last week he contacted me and asked me to do a baby shower cake for his girlfriend’s sister.
I was overjoyed to do a cake for him…well, him indirectly since he wasn’t the one actually HAVING the baby.
But I digress.
I set off to make them a tasty and beautiful peice of edible art.
Congrats on your little bundle of love!

Hello Spring!
Welcome back Spring! We’ve missed you all year long. Bring on the warm weather and sunny days. Well, just make sure they aren’t TOO warm…a nice mid 70′s would be just perfect.
To celebrate the first day of Spring the boys and I are going to meet Bernie for lunch while my husband goes to work. I’m hoping to convince Bernie to take the leap and follow her passion to become a wedding planner. Just do it Bernie!
And then we’re spending the rest of the day “Spring Cleaning”. But lets be honest…my Spring Cleaning is going to consist of putting clothes away. Maybe.
I wanted the flower toppers to all be different to similate the uniqueness of real flowers so I hand cut them out. I then cut out a circle around the letters and hand marked the designs to make them look like sewing stitches.
Cupcakes: Chocolate
Icing: Chocolate Buttercream
